Alexander McQueen Rose & Skull Clutch

Alexander McQueen Rose & Skull Clutch

As soon as I saw the skull on this clutch I knew it was an Alexander McQueen piece, as they seem to be a signature look for the brand. Do I like Alexander McQueen’s collections, absolutely! Time and time again, I find their womanswear collections stunning; and their shoe collections sexy (my-oh-my)!

At first glance I loved this purse. I was drawn by the richness of the red and pink hues. I was drawn by the rose heads that covered the clutch. I was drawn by the simpleness of the silhouette but the extreme detail of the flowers. Once I was drawn in…that’s when I noticed the skull. The thing is, I’m not a skull kind-of-girl…so I must admit I was a little disappointed.  If, instead, it was just a gold ball with diamonds or crystals I would be the happiest girl ever….but sadly it’s not.

Although skulls are not on my list of favourites, I know for many people they are; so that mixed with the fact that I still find myself gazing at the beauty that is this clutch, I wanted to share it with you all. Maybe you’re a rose, skull and handbag lover, and if that’s the cause than this Alexander McQueen clutch is perfect for you!! Only a few minor adjustments and it would be perfect for me too.

xo,
V.

Important question – what do you think of the latest McQueen collection? Slight regression from the usual style…

Zofia, i’m so sorry for my slow response; I don’t know how this comment slipped by me!

Yes, I see what you mean by the slight regression from the usual McQueen style in the latest collection, but at the same time keeping the same exquisite detail in the textiles. I found this collection a little “brighter” a little more “cheerful” (minus the visors); which I think Sara Burton was going for with her “looking to the future” type theme. The Fall 2012 collection is definitely not as wearable as previous RTW collections, but it makes for a great show.

Oh do not worry about the reply! I was just happy someone brought up McQueen, as their collections are usually so inspiring. For me, this collection was a bit too far off the classic Alexander McQueen aesthetic…

I’m not a skull girl or a rose girl per se, but the two together is a great mixture. I’m a country girl, so I guess I love the mix of feminine and rugged.

True, a mix of feminine and rugged can be very chic!!

It was a very romantic clutch! Besides, The roses looks sentimental and very rugged since the skull appears on the clutch. I really believe that there are more wonderful clutch which McQueen created.

Your comment got lost in my spam section for some reason, sorry!! Yes, I agree this clutch is very romantic, and although the skull is not my cup of tea it does add a nice rugged appeal πŸ™‚
