Currently Coveting: A Burberry Trench

I guess I shouldn’t say I’m coveting “a” Burberry Trench, because really, I’m coveting “this” Burberry Trench!!

The trench coat is another item on my list of “Wardrobe Essentials.” It’s always chic, always stylish, always reliable. You can wear it with anything – sweats, jeans, skirts, dresses, suits..the possibilities are endless! It’s a classic – it has stood the test of time – and that’s why I give it my stamp of approval!

Any classic style trench coat will be the perfect addition to your wardrobe….buuuut a classic trench by Burberry is the ultimate must-have!

Some of you may already have a Burberry trench (thumbs up to you!); some of you may already be planning on getting one…a few days, weeks, months, years from now (good thinking – you won’t regret buying one…at least I wouldn’t! :D); some of you may be thinking “I could afford to buy one, I just don’t know if I can spend that much money on a trench…but it’s really beautiful and I want one” (I have a secret for you…see paragraph below); and finally, some of you may be thinking “I could never afford a trench that pricey” (that’s okay!! There are plenty of other brands out there that have beautiful trenches at different price points!).

Okay, now for my secret….how to spread out the cost of an item so you can buy it and love it, guilt free 🙂  I call this “The Haute Way”

The Haute Way = Cost Of Item ÷ Number Of Years It Can Be Worn

Burberry Short Gabardine Trench Coat:
$1,350 / 10 years = $135

Realistically this trench will last more than 10 years, and therefore even cheaper per year of wear!! I would wear it to my hearts content (probably all my life) and then pass it down to my children, and to my grandchildren…so a superb buy in my eyes!! It’s a classic, and it’s of great quality (as long as you take care of it, of course!).

Sooo…If you went into a store today and would be comfortable buying any coat for $135 (and know would probably end up buying another the next year because the coat you bought is out of style, and the next year because one you previously bought is worn out, etc.)…then according to The Haute Way, you should not feel bad buying the Burberry trench coat, and should enjoy it!!  This method works like a charm every time 😉

**The Haute Way only works if  you can comfortably afford spending “The Cost of Item” upfront…in this case $1,350 at one time. If you can’t, please do not buy this trench, as there are other brands just as lovely for every budget…going in debt is never the answer when buying clothes (sad, I know – but true!).
