Obviously, I’m a huge fashion fanatic – and you’ve seen my endless blog posts on shoe crushes and bag envies; but these are everyday covets – things that can be worn on a daily basis with a chic outfit. What gets my heart racing even more is formal wear. It’s a niche full of glamour and elegance; a niche that has a high degree of fantasy.
This is a category in which Jenny Packham excels; a reason I always love watching her runway shows! The intricate details on the textiles, the way the fabrics flow as the models walk, the classic silhouettes with their own unique flare – be still my heart. It was refreshing to see dress coats that complement the look so well! How many times do you get all dressed up, only to find you don’t have a proper coat to complete your outfit? That won’t happen if you decide on a Jenny Packham number! I also can’t stop staring that the silk charmeuse skirt, paired with a knit sweater (last photo) – the opposite textures and styles are so pleasing to the eye!
This particular Fall/Winter 2013 show, during New York Fashion Week, was inspired by seventeenth-century Paris salons —”where strong-minded women met to discuss arts and culture”.
