I’m a huge lover of skirts and dresses, but sometimes I just want to wear a pair of shorts. And sometimes that urge happens to be when I’m going out for dinner and want to get dressed up. Does that ever happen to you?

Dressing up your shorts is actually really simple to do, even though it can seem daunting.
Here are three easy steps to create a fancier look:
- The number one trick to dressing up shorts is your shoe choice. Just throw on a pair of heels (or a pair of dressy flats if you’re not a high heel wearing kind of gal) and your outfit is automatically elevated to dressy.
- Add a nice clutch purse or small cross body handbag. I love a small bag that has a bit of metal hardware for an extra chic touch – like the gold clasp and chain strap on my Rebecca Minkoff handbag in this outfit.
- Pair your shorts with a dressier top. I usually choose something with a softer drape, like the material of my tank top in this outfit. Also, the lace and ruffles on my tank top add a dressier, more feminine feel to my outfit – which I love.
